Managing Partner and Portfolio Manager

I grew up in Birmingham, Alabama, where my father got me interested in finance while I was still in high school. I graduated from Birmingham Southern College in 1994 with a degree in Finance, and the subject always felt natural to me. But I also became a pilot, and for years I thought I'd spend my career in the cockpit.

The airline industry changed that thinking. When things got unstable in the early 2000s, I started building something more permanent. I worked at National Bank of Commerce and earned my Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor designation. Eventually I founded United Wealth Management, where I've spent over two decades focused exclusively on financial planning for United Airlines pilots.

The work makes sense because I'm one of them. I fly the same routes, live under the same contract, and deal with the same benefits decisions. When a pilot walks into my office, we skip the lengthy explanations. They don't need to translate their world for me because I already understand it.

As Managing Partner and Portfolio Manager, my job is to help pilots make complex financial decisions with confidence. The best part happens when a plan finally clicks. A client sits back, takes a breath, and you can see the relief. They know what they're doing and why. That moment is why I do this.

I live in Charlottesville, Virginia, with my wife, Carmen, and our sons, Taylor and Luke. Most of my free time goes to being outdoors: cycling, running, and hiking. For ten years, I organized an annual 12-hour Spin-A-Thon that raised over $125,000 to buy toys for at-risk kids in our area. It started as a small idea and turned into something that mattered to many people.
